Deb brings over three decades of experience in public health and health policy within the state of Alaska. Her distinguished career includes roles such as Executive Director of the Alaska Health Care Commission, Deputy Director of the Alaska Division of Public Health, and Chief of the Section of Community Health Services. Most recently, she served as the Population Health Director for Providence Alaska, where she played a crucial role as Deputy Incident Commander during the regional COVID response.
Nationally, Deb has been a leader in public health law, notably chairing the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Turning Point Public Health Statute Modernization Collaborative. At the state level, her contributions include establishing the State Office of Primary Care and the Alaska Primary Care Association, working on Medicaid Expansion and Reform for the Walker Administration, and serving on the Boards of the Alaska Public Health Association and the Alaska Center for Rural Health.
Deb holds an MBA in Health Administration from Alaska Pacific University, a Bachelor of Science degree from Pacific Lutheran University, and is a graduate of the National Public Health Leadership Institute at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
A long-time resident of Girdwood, Deb has lived here for the past 16 years with her husband Tom and their children, Ash and Alex. She enjoys the local outdoors, particularly hiking, skijoring with her Karelian Bear dog, alpine and Nordic skiing, and biking.
Deb’s passion has always been improving access to quality health care through public programs and policies. She is excited to lead the Girdwood Health Clinic and looks forward to serving our community, staff, and patients.
